As a continuous bulk material transportation machinery, belt conveyors have been widely used in docks, power plants, metallurgy, grain and other industries. It is also used in bulk material transport machinery such as ship loaders, bucket wheel stackers and reclaimers. When the belt conveyor is running, the most common fault is the deviation of the belt. The deviation of the belt will cause the material to be scattered and the belt to be worn, and the severe friction between the belt and the frame will cause the belt to soften, burn, or even cause a fire, causing the entire production line to stop production.
Therefore, correctly handling the belt deviation is related to the normal operation of the entire production system. Through years of equipment management work, we have found some laws and reasons for the deviation of the belt, as well as the common methods of dealing with the deviation, which has solved the phenomenon of the deviation of the belt, so that the belt conveyor can smoothly serve the production.
A. Belt misalignment caused by installation
The installation quality of the belt conveyor has the greatest influence on the deviation of the belt, and the deviation of the belt caused by the installation error is the most difficult to deal with. The installation errors are mainly:
1. The conveyor belt joint is not straight
The tension on both sides of the belt is uneven, and the belt always deviates to the side with the larger tension. In this case, it can be eliminated by adjusting the tension on both sides of the driving drum or the reversing drum. Reconnect the belt connector.
2. The rack is skewed
Rack skew includes skew in the center line of the rack and tilt on both sides of the rack, both of which can cause serious misalignment and are difficult to adjust. When we tested the machine on a belt conveyor installed by a non-professional installer, the belt deviation was serious. Through measurement, it was found that the center line of the belt conveyor was skewed. After the head and tail were adjusted, the deviation in the middle part could not be corrected anyway. Finally re-installing the rack solved the problem.
3. The pressure of the sealing rubber plates on both sides of the guide groove is uneven
Due to the uneven pressure of the sealing rubber plate, the running resistance on both sides of the belt is inconsistent, causing the belt to deviate. It is relatively easy to deal with this situation, as long as the pressure of the rubber plates on both sides is readjusted.
B. Belt Deviation Caused by Incorrect Operation
1. Deviation caused by sticky material of roller and idler
After the belt conveyor runs for a period of time, because part of the conveyed material will stick to the drum and the idler, the diameter of the drum or the idler will become larger, causing uneven tension on both sides of the belt, causing the belt to deviate.
2. Deviation caused by belt slack
After the adjusted belt runs for a period of time, due to the permanent deformation or aging of the belt stretching, the tension of the belt will decrease, causing the belt to relax and cause the belt to deviate.
3. Deviation caused by uneven distribution of conveyed materials
If the belt does not deviate when it is idling, it will deviate during heavy-load operation, indicating that the material is unevenly distributed on both sides of the belt. The uneven distribution of the material is mainly caused by the incorrect falling direction and position of the material. If the material deviates to the left, the belt will deviate to the right, and vice versa.
